When I commenced with Business For Breakfast 15 months ago, Rob Brown was someone that was recommended to me as an authority in networking worth following and knowing, which I immediately did via Twitter and his blog. Much of my knowledge on networking and referral marketing has come from reading Rob’s blog.

Fast forward to last week when Rob was kind enough to speak to BforB members in Staffordshire at a Big Breakfast event organised through the auspices of the Staffordshire Marketing Academy, where he was the main speaker.

Working with Rob has been an enormous pleasure. The effort he has personally put in to help market the event, and to make it a genuine learning experience for BforB members has been incredible. On the day, Rob was professionalism personified, and his kindness to all involved and to the audience was outstanding. The learning he delivered to the Big Breakfast and later on with the Academy was really to the point, and I went away having both learnt more on a subject close to my heart, and motivated to do better in applying what he taught us.

I look forward very much in working with Rob in the future at a local and national level at BforB in helping our members get to the top 5% of networkers using Rob’s extensive and superb writings on the subject.

Rob’s energetic and highly engaging presentation on how to make your business networking really count was invaluable. I loved how his ‘5 steps’ covered the whole networking journey, from understanding the main target for your business and creating a successful campaign to connecting better with potential clients and following-up on leads.

The thing that stuck with me most was how stating ‘Business is great’ not only ends the conversation, it also closes the door to potential business. Conversation is key to networking so from now on when someone asks me ‘How’s business?’ I’ll be sure to tell them about the most interesting project currently on the books (and ask them what theirs is!)

Thanks so much Rob for your time and advice – you changed my perspective on business networking and I would fully recommend your seminars to anyone looking to better understand this new world we live in, where networking is no longer about sales but about relationships.
